China’s crude steel output up 7.5% YoY in Sep

Oct 19 (LTIT) - China produced 80.85 million mt of crude steel in September, up 7.5% compared to a year ago and average daily output being 2.695 million mt, showed data from China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

 

This grew the overall output of crude steel in January-September to 699.42 million mt, standing 6.1% higher than the same period last year.

 

For the same month, output of pig iron grew 4.4% year on year to 66.38 million mt and daily output averaged 2.213 million mt. Year-to-date output came in at 578.6 million mt, up 1.2% on a yearly basis.

 

A total of 96.75 million mt of steel products were churned out in September, up 9.8% from the corresponding month of 2017. This equated to some 3.225 million mt of steel products being produced per day in the month. Output amounted to 821.01 million mt thus far this year, 7.2% more than the same period last year.
